Kai Bester is assistant professor of Environmental Engineering. At present Kai is working on:

 

bulletFate of xenobiotic compounds in waste and drinking water treatment, in surface waters and in marine ecosytems.
 
bulletDeveloping means of elimination of pollutants from water and studying the effectiveness of new emerging techniques with established approaches
 
bulletMass flows from sources to final sinks, including phase transfer, transformations, mineralization.
 
bulletCompounds that are currently studied: Personal care compounds, pharmaceuticals, steroid hormones, biocides, and flame retardants.
 
bulletDeveloping methods for the analysis of these compounds from, water sludge, soil, and biota samples using mostly HPLC-MS/MS, GC-MS, size exclusion chromatography, etc.
