Asbjørn Haaning Nielsen is Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering. At present, Asbjørn is working on processes of the sulfur cycle in sewer networks with particular focus on the fate of sulfide, including:

Chemical and biological sulfide oxidation in wastewater and biofilms of sewer networks

Sulfide precipitation in sewer networks

Adsorption and subsequent oxidation of hydrogen sulfide onto moist surfaces exposed to the sewer atmosphere. This process is responsible for the deterioration of concrete sewer structures.
